Cliche's Are Like Stereotypes, They're Pretty Right On

You all know the ol' saying "Today is the first day of the rest of your life!" Well it is! In this post I will list the things I intend to keep in my new life, since it's the first day I want to set myself off on the right track... and things that I want to discard from my new life.

Let's begin with the things I want to discard from my life
since these are jumping to mind;

FACEBOOK - I've decided that my life has no room for this somewhat additive yearbook of past classmates, lovers and co-workers. I began to fall into the abyss that is facebook before I realized that I have to go to work, make breakfast, feed the kids, brush my teeth, and put on clothes every day... So no more facebook.

House Hunters - The TV show on HGTV where beautiful people find the home of their dreams. I may just shun all of HGTV since it's also too depressing to watch "What You get for the Money" when you live in New York. UGHHH

Netflix - I've decided to get back into reading and NPR. It's good for the soul. I've enjoyed my stint with Netflix, but I realized it's time to quit when you're watching a subtitled Chinese porno and the people on the bus are giving you dirty looks. My latest read, Julie and Julia.. love love love! thanks Debra.

Smoking - no comment, I'm hatching a plan.....

Fear - fear of slugs, fear of success, fear of change.

Clutter - clear it out!

Now for the things I would like to incorporate into my new life:

More Music - more singing, more dancing, more skating, more ukulele, more music with the kids, more more more

Exercise - duh

Reading - Like to start a book club

More Cooking - real cooking

More blog Posts!

More random videos of the kids doing random things.

That's it for now. I may have to adjust this list as time goes on, but hey it's only the first day of the rest of my life, so cut me some slack :)

Sound of Music

Below are a couple photos of me, the kids and the dog demonstrating our music ability.

Speaking of music, I'm going to see the Broadway musical "Rock of Ages" tonight with my friend Christina. A tribute to all the 80's Rock music you forgot you loved. Loverboy, Whitesnake... you get the picture. I brought some Aqua net to work to see if I could get the power bangs working again, however I just don't have the skills anymore. Also the gray ones really put a hitch in the system!

We had a really nice Easter with the family. Charlotte insisted on an Easter egg hunt every half hour. And of course it was raining all weekend. It's really hard finding new places to hide eggs in a three bedroom colonial! But we had fun and her excitement was worth it.

We plan to see the St. Louis family this summer when we visit for two weeks over 4th of July. I can't wait!

St. Louis; Gateway to the West

and home of the cardinals, my family, the Anheiser Busch Clydesdale's, well of course now they are probably called the "In-Bev" Jackasses". The weekend in St. Louis proved to be one big reunion. It was Michelle and Kelly's 40th birthday celebrations so there were plenty of old friends and family to see. I also did something I haven't done since I was kid. And I probably did it with the same two girls.... We laid on the grass directly under the Arch and stared up into the sky. Susie counted all the little windows, Chrissy giggled and sent text messages to the thousands of people she tried to meet up during the St. Pats parade and I listened to James Taylor on my Ipod and took pictures of our feet in the air with the arch and the blue sky as the back drop.

Shelly had the line of the weekend, as I suspected she would. When Robin, Chrissy, Shelly and I got back to the hotel room it was pretty late and Sandy was already sleeping. With five people and two beds; it was Shelly who ended up on the floor. We felt really bad, so Chrissy hatched a plan to try the old "light as a feather, stiff as a board trick" and gently move Sandy to the floor (using our pointers and tall men) without disturbing her slumber. To this Shelly replied "YEAH RIGHT, AND WHO DO YOU THINK SHE WILL KARATE CHOP TOMORROW MORNING!"

She wins...
That's all for today folks.
